Assalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb.

First of all, let us praise to Almighty Allah SWT, because of His Blessing we are able to come here, to attend the Education Workshop here. Secondly, may Shalawat and Salam be upon the prophet Muhammad SAW who has guided us from the darkness to brightness.

Brothers and Sisters,

It is a great honor for me to stand here and give a brief speech entitled ”Education Grade in Indonesia”.

In Indonesia there are 2 Major Parts Education, its Formal and Non-Formal. Non-Formal Education is carried out for the learners who get difficulties to meet the requirements in formal education. And Formal Education its for the learners who can meet the requirements form Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School for 12 years.

                Brothers and Sisters,

As I have stated previously, formal education involves three levels: primary, secondary and tertiary education. Before entering primary school or elementary school, children in Indonesia usually have attended kindergarten or known as Taman Kanak-Kanak. But this is just  the aim to prepare them for primary school. Children ages 7-12 attend primary education at Elemntary School or Sekolah Dasar for 6 years, similar like education systems in the US and Australia, students must study for six years to complete this level.  The next level is secondary education. After Graduating from elementary school, students attend the Middle School or Junior High School or known as Sekolah Menengah Pertama. In Middle School, student must finish for three years from the age 13-15. After three years, students may move to Senior High School. In Indonesia, this school is basically divided into two kinds: SMA and SMK. SMA is different with SMK, SMA is for the students who want continuing they study to University or Academy and SMK is for the students to preparing to faces the corporate works. And the Last is Tertiary Education, Students who have graduated from High School may attended to University and Academy.

I think that’s all my speech about Formal Education. I hope my brief description will be useful for us. Finally, I would like say sorry if there are mistakes in my speech words.
